Horizon Forbidden West Pre Order, Trailer, Plot, News & Release Date
Horizon Forbidden West Pre Order, Trailer, Plot, News & Release Date: The sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West is among the most anticipated games coming to the PlayStation 5. Here’s what is known so far.
Horizon Forbidden West is one of Sony’s most awaited game. It generates excitement about the PlayStation 5 after its predecessor, Horizon Zero Dawn, became a breakout success in 2017. It had a unique story, gripping combat and a lush world to explore. The series became one of the decade’s biggest hits. If its second game lives up to expectations it could start a new era for the Horizon Series and the PlayStation.
Guerrilla Games, the game’s developer, has not revealed much about Horizon Forbidden West, but there’s a good reason for this. Games based on Exploration like Forbidden West are at their best when the player has a chance to discover its wonders themselves. Now, based on the hints discovered so far in the game’s back story and plenty of general knowledge present for any fan there is plenty to look forward to Aloy’s next adventure.
Forbidden West was announced in June 2020 and the first trailer was show cased. In the trailer Revealed May 28, 2021 we can see a mix of gameplay and cut scenes. It can be seen that there are various kind of unique machines Aloy will come face-to-face with in her travels and even new mechanics. As seen in the game’s first trailer unlike the first game the player will be able to explore under water secrets lying in the Pacific Ocean’s watery depths.
Though in the previous game jungle-like wilderness of San Francisco was most heavily featured, glimpses of a desert suggest that Forbidden West will feature various climate. From Horizon Zero Dawn’s data points, it is well known that desert is located in Nevada, confirming players will have a chance to roam through the minimum parts of Nevada, California and Utah. It is also being said that Aloy will come across four new tribes.
Horizon Forbidden West Plot
Horizon Forbidden West continues after the end of Horizon Zero Dawn. In a post-credits scene, it was seen that Sylens Aloy’s mysterious ally captured the world-destroying supercomputer HADES, which was assumed destroyed. Sylens seemed to have his own agenda for HADES and, in a ridicule tone, tells it, “We’ve still have so much to discuss, so much you never revealed. Your masters, for example. The ones who sent the signal that woke you … Knowledge has its own rewards, don’t you think?”
This scene itself revealed towards broader plot of the series: Aloy facing off against whoever or whatever sent the signal that freed HADES and all the other rogue functions from the benevolent GAIA. From the Forbidden West’s trailer, it is clear that the game’s plot will revolve around Sylens and his machinations, but whether he’ll become an enemy or continue to be an unreliable ally is for the guess.
Sylens does not want humanity to go extinct and will help Aloy eliminate threats for his survival, but his morality is questionable in his pursuit of knowledge. He would not hesitate in choosing a side with HADES’ former masters if they give him what was promised. Regardless, it’s inevitable that the series will continue its story of ancient secrets and next to next level AIs in Horizon Forbidden West.

In May, a State-of-Play gameplay presentation was given to viewers, where they got a first look at Horizon Forbidden West’s gameplay. The overall spirit of the gameplay is similar to Zero Dawn, but it seems the combat, exploration and graphics have all been vastly improved. Apart from new ancient ruins to explore and dangerous machines to fight, Aloy now has some new tools to balance the ark.
Some of these weapons include the Pullcaster and Shieldwing that have been added to Aloy’s arsenal. The Pullcaster is like a grappling hook and allows the player to speed up climbing and bridge wide jumps. The Shieldwing is a high-tech glider that lets Aloy safely leap from immense heights. Both of these tools will add new depth to climbing the ruined skyscrapers and cliffs of Aloy’s post-apocalyptic world. In the trailer both of these weapons can be seen being used to enhance manoeuvrability in combat.
During the December Game Awards, the above gameplay trailer was released by Guerrilla Games. While the trailer mostly just showcased the game’s fluid combat, it also revealed several new outfits for Aloy and confirmed that ones from the first game will make a return. Three new machines were highlighted in the trailer, including an absolutely massive snake like machine which is guaranteed to be a formidable fight.
When Will Horizon Forbidden West Release ?
Horizon Forbidden West is set to release on February 18, 2022. The date was finally announced during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. The game will be releasing simultaneously on PlayStation 4 & 5; it was originally not going to receive a free PS5 upgrade, but Sony relented following fan backlash.
The game was slated to release during the 2021 holiday season, but Guerrilla Games postponed it stating that the COVID-19 pandemic has slowed production. The delay was not surprising; given Guerrilla’s reluctance to confirm a release date during the State-of-Play PlayStation presentation in May. Some fans may be disappointed at the delay, but the extra time should allow Horizon Forbidden West to launch when it’s ready. Moreover, 18 February feels like a natural release date for the game, as Horizon Zero Dawn was also released in February back in 2017.
Horizon Forbidden West Pre Order
Now that we know the release date of the game, we can expect Horizon Forbidden West Pre Order to start from somewhere between mid to late January 2022.
