Compared to the current generation games, the character graphics, gameplay and cut scenes might seem a little sluggish and not up to the mark, yet you can not strip away the fact that this game is one of the most well crafted and beautifully designed game, that sets an example for many future games.

In this open world, Geralt with his weapons and magical powers has to deal with monsters and all kinds of bloodthirsty creatures, having there own abilities. Batman: Arkham Knights is the fourth installment of the Arkham series that came out in 2015. The story of the game follows Batman as he is trying to catch Scarecrow, who has plans to launch an attack on Gotham City.

Though the open-world of this game is not too big, in comparison to other contenders in this list, but still the game has a lot to offer. The free-flow combat and stealth with some high-tech gadgets combined with amazing story-line and magnificent visuals, surely makes you feel like Batman.

Although, the AI of the game does not disappoint, but at times reactions of the enemies get too predictable and repetitive, which could make the game easier for hardcore gamers and the only way left for the developers to make it difficult was to add more number of opponents.

There are also plenty of side-missions and mysteries such as finding the serial killer or capturing Penguin. Moreover, unlike any other Batman game, players even get to ride the Bat-mobile in this one, however, in my opinion, it has been over-used throughout the campaign, to an extent where it feels like a forceful imposition. Despite all odds, this game surely deserves to be in the list of top 10 world games.

7. Horizon Zero Dawn:

There isn’t much to say as far as the exploration is concerned, but beautiful graphics, day-night cycle and weather system culminated with captivating and interesting consistency in the narrative and action sequences, surely keeps you hooked to the game.

Despite it’s not so impressive narrative, the game still manages to leave an impression with its fantastic gaming mechanics, locations, graphics and action set pieces. Since, it is a stealth military game, it encourages people to sneak by enemies, without using any lethal weapons.

Moreover, Venom Snake can also call for some allies such as, Quiet, a silent female sniper; D-Horse. a horse capable of wearing armors; D-Walker, a mobile weapons platform that provides heavy weapons support and D-Dog; a trained wolf dog.

The open world of the game is beautiful, immersive and astonishingly big, with staggering amount of content to explore. Even after 60 hour long campaign, there will be so many things left to discover.

Ubisoft has done a commendable job with Odyssey in terms of world building, environment and human and naval combat. Apart from occasional bugs and excessively interesting side-quests, which may deviate you from the actual story-line, there isn’t anything bad about the game.

4. Ghost of Tsushima:

Ghost of Tsushima is the most recent game of this list, and happens to be one of the strongest contenders for the best game of 2020. This third-person action-adventure open world game is set in 11th century on the island of Tsushima.

After loosing a fierce battle against the Mongolian invaders, one of the surviving Samurai of Sakai Clan; Jin Sakai, pledges to rescue his uncle and liberate the island of Tsushima with the help of his allies.

Apart from spectacular Samurai combat, which is par excellence, the open world and environment of the game is also magnificent and immersive. However, except all the exquisete locations there isn’t much to explore and do in the game. Even if there is, it isn’t worth travelling on your horse from one end to another, in case you don’t have an option for fast travel.

3. Marvel’s Spider-Man:

Developed by: Insomniac Games Published by: Sony Interactive Entertainment Available on: PS4

Swinging from a gleaming Manhattan skyscraper comes Spider-Man. Marvel’s Spider-Man was one of the most awaited and most anticipated game of 2018. Even prior to its release there were several speculations made about the game.

It is an action adventure open world superhero game set in the fictionalized version of modern day Manhattan of New York. This PS4 exclusive has a lot to offer, not just in terms of its gameplay but also an incredible narrative, where Spider-Man fights against its formidable adverseries.

However, apart from the main campaign and some downloadable content, there aren’t too many interesting things to do in the game. The random events and side-quests tend to become slightly repetitive and monotonous after a point of time.

But you can’t blame the developers, with such realistic and outstanding swinging mechanics and combat system along with tons of Spidey suits, this is by far the best Spider-Man game and one of the two best Superhero games ever made alongside Batman: Arkham City.

While playing as Arthur Morgan, an outlaw member of the Van Der Linde gang, who is dealing with the fall of the Wild West era whilst attempting to survive against Government forces, you will come across the stunning graphics and enormity of the game.

The living environment of Red Dead Redemption 2, is just too hard to come in terms with. In order to make the game as real as possible, the developers made sure they leave no stone unturned. From change in the appearance of the character such as, beard and hair growth to the character feeling cold and hungry if not provided right clothing and food, this game is unbelievable. And the undisputed champion of the Open world games is Grand Theft Auto V. I wonder if there were any doubts about it. The World’ No.1 game set in the fictional City of Los Santos of United States of America, swept away the gaming market when it first came out in 2013. It became the fastest selling game and continues to be the highest selling AAA game of all time.

Upon its release the game was way ahead of its time. Players get to play with three different characters; Michael, Trevor and Franklin, which they can switch at any time of the gameplay. If a sequence includes all three characters, then the beginning of the cut scene may depend upon the character you are playing with. Moreover, the game even has multiple endings.

Also the characters would be wearing random outfits, doing random activities and being at random location when you switch to them. And these are just some details of this open world game.

Apart from the fantastic narrative, one of the highest selling point for all GTA games are their multi-player option, and GTA 5 doesn’t even fail there. With complete freedom to use cheat codes and different modes in the online multi-player set up, there is no saying how to get rid off this obsession called Grand Theft Auto V.
