DC REVEALED GOTHAM KNIGHTS
Gotham Knights trailer was released by DC as part of DC FanDome reveal which showcased upcoming projects from the production house.
The game is being developed by Warner Bros. Games Montreal and will be published by Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment.
DC released a trailer and an 8-minute long walkthrough gameplay of Gotham Knights recently which confirms that it is a different game from Batman Arkham series. However, it is unclear whether it is a direct sequel or not.
Going by the trailer and the gameplay, it is pretty evident that the playable characters in the game include, Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing and Red Hood.
Since, Batgirl is one of the playable characters in the game, it is not clear how would the game developers go around The Killing Joke storyline.
It is also unsure, whether batman will be there in the game or not, as the trailer teases that Batman is most likely dead and so is Jim Gordan.
As per the trailer, apart from Dr. Freeze and various other villains the vigilantes will face Court of owls too.
Warner Bros. Games Montréal creative director Patrick Redding said, “The team is thrilled to announce Gotham Knights and share our work in bringing a different story of the DC Super Heroes to the forefront.” He added, “We’re looking forward to fans playing and enjoying a lot of action as this new guard of strong DC Super Heroes in Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin, while solving an original mystery set against a living, breathing Gotham City.”
Gotham Knights is set to be a open-world action RPG co-op game.
After watching the gameplay, it seems like the gaming mechanics have also improved with faster movements and better combat system.
Each character would have different skill sets, features, gadgets and other upgrades, giving players an opportunity to play different characters with there preferred playing style.
The best thing about the game is that the entire game can be played either as a single player or in a co-op mode in which two players would be able to play together with their respective characters.
However, it is still a mystery if players will be allowed to switch characters while playing.
While Warner Bros Games president David Haddad was quoted saying, “With Gotham Knights, the team at Warner Bros. Games Montréal is bringing the Batman Family of characters to life in a unique way to delight both fans and new players. As we embark on a new era of interactive storytelling, our development team has been diligently working to create a new, in-depth experience within DC’s Batman Universe.”
Gotham Knights will release in the Year 2021 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
