GTA 6 Easter Egg Spotted In GTA 5 Upgrade Trailer
A crazy fan spotted a very interesting detail in the latest Grand Theft Auto 5 upgrade trailer, suggesting it could be a tease for Grand Theft Auto 6. Originally, GTA 5 was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, back in 20213. Since then, the game has been re-released several times for different consoles and major upgrades. Now Rockstar is all set for yet another re-release of Grand Theft Auto 5 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, expectedly in March 2022. However, fans are unhappy with the decision and Rockstar Games have been tremendously criticized for that.
The GTA 5 upgrade trailer received an overwhelmingly negative response from fans. A huge amount of their dissatisfaction came from the graphical improvements boasted in the trailer, which did not seem much in comparison to other offerings on the current-gen consoles and looked underwhelming in comparison to the PC version of of the game. With 162,000 dislikes, the new trailer of the game became the most disliked trailer on the official YouTube channel of PlayStation.
In the trailer, one of the protagonists of the game, Franklin, can be seen driving a sports car on the highway with a license plate that reads “61SAL890.” A Reddit user named, docbicep called it an Easter Egg that could be a possible tease for GTA 6 Status and interpreted the license plate to mean “6 is a late 90s,” suggesting GTA 6 will be set in some time in the late 1990s. While to some this may seem like quite a stretch, but we can not deny the fact that Rockstar Games have in their previous games hidden Easter Egg hinting something about their next project.
Most other Reddit users in the comments, however, were unconvinced. The top comment, by user mvreee, has more upvotes than the post itself, joking that the plate actually means GTA 6 “will be released in late 2090.” Another, from user Scotthawk, said, “Yup, enough of Reddit for today.”
While Rockstar continues to maintain silence on the next installment of GTA franchise, some fans have started loosing their patience. One such example comes from, a live broadcast of the popular German game show Schlag den star, where a crazy GTA 6 fan crashed live TV to ask for the game’s release. A couple of days later, another fan attempted to garner the developer’s attention by holding up a sign at a AEW Dynamite match, asking Rockstar to announce Grand Theft Auto 6.
