iPhone 12 series ship without charger and earphones, Samsung mocks Apple
iPhone 12 series was launched by Apple in an online event on October 13.
Much before the release of iPhone 12 it was speculated by many publications that the new iPhone series would not come with a charger or earphones inside the box. Later, at the launch event Apple confirmed that all the devices from the iPhone 12 line-up would come with a USB Type-C to lightning cable. However, it would not include Ear-Pods and a power adapter in the box.
Apple gave environmental reasons as a justification for such a decision.
“Across the iPhone family, we are removing the power adapter and earpods that often go unused, but including the the fast-charging USBC to lightning cable that most people need. That shrinks packaging and more boxes per shipment mean fewer shipments overall. We are also transitioning our manufacturing partners to renewable energy. Altogether, this eliminates over 2 million metric tons of carbon emissions annually…” Apple website read.
Apple noted that if they provide the phones in smaller retail boxes, the process would help inn reducing carbon emissions. Due to this the first thing to notice is the box of the brand new iPhone, which was smaller and lighter due to absence of charger and EarPods.
Furthermore, Apple has not just removed charger and EarPods from the new iPhones, but also the older models including the iPhone XR, iPhone 11, and the 2020 version of iPhone SE.
As per the Apple website the phone will only come with a USB Type-C to lightning cable and no charger. However, this cable will cost you Rs 1900 extra.
Samsung, which happens to be the biggest rival of Apple, did not let go this opportunity to mock the company with a funny post.
“Your #Galaxy does give you what you are looking for. From the most basic as a charger, to the best camera, battery, performance, memory and even 120Hz screen on a phone,” they wrote on Facebook almost two weeks ago, sharing a picture of a black charger included in their Galaxy phones line-up.
The pre-order for iPhone12 Pro have started from October 23, which shall be made available to people from October 30. Whereas, iPhone 12 can be pre-ordered from November 6 and it will be available from November 13.
