Moto G30 and Moto G10 Revealed

Moto’s mid-range G-series is returning to its foundations with basic but efficient smartphones. The Moto G10 and G30 are the beginning of another age, one that centers around a strong camera experience and long battery life.

The two telephones are very similar, however you could call the G30 as the plus model out of the two with some equipment redesigns. The G10 and G30 will released in selected European nations in the coming weeks.

Lets talk about some basic specifications of the phones now:

Both phones feature fingerprint readers on their backs. And there’s a Google Assistant button on the side.

Both the Moto G10 and G30 have plastic bodies with a water-repellent design, earning them an IP52 rating – dust proof and able to stave off dripping water.

The phone comes with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage. There are single and dual-SIM versions and while both have microSD slots, the dual-SIM version uses a hybrid slot design, which limits it to one SIM if you have a microSD in there.

Moto G30

Moto G30 carries a 6.5” IPS LCD display with 720 x 1,600 px resolution. Moreover, it comes with 90Hz refresh rate. Also, it has a 13MP notch selfie camera

The quad camera set up on the back features a 64MP main sensor with Quad Pixel tech. Post binning, the sensor effectively has 1.4 µm pixels and 16MP resolution, which combined with the bright f/1.7 aperture lays the groundwork for the Night Vision mode.

The main cam has been accompanied with an 8MP ultra-wide angle camera (118º). The telephoto camera is missing, instead the high resolution main sensor takes on zooming duties. Two additional cameras have been added, a 2MP macro cam and a 2MP depth sensor (used for Cutout, Spot color and, of course, portrait shots). Video recording with 1080p @ 60 fps may not seem very impress in today’s time.

Furthermore, the chipset may also disappoint some people as the G30 is powered by a Snapdragon 662. It has eight Kryo 260 CPU cores (four based on A73, four on A53), plus an Adreno 610 GPU. It runs Android 11 with a few Motorola-developed features added on top.

This is a 4G phone (Cat. 4), it also supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and a variety of satellite positioning systems. Wired connectivity includes USB-C (wired for 2.0 speeds) and a 3.5mm headphone jack. An FM radio receiver is available as well.

The 5,000 mAh battery is good for over 2 days of usage, according to Motorola’s own testing, and can be charged back up quickly at 20W.

Moto G10

The Moto G10 is similar to the G30, with some of the extra features missing in this device. For example, the 6.5” 720p+ screen operates maximum at 60Hz. Also, the 5,000mAh battery tops gets a 10W charging.

besides, the Snapdragon 460 chipset is also a dialed down version of the 662. This phone starts at a less impressive memory configuration, 4/64 GB, but you can go up to 128GB storage if you prefer. The microSD situation is the same as on the G30, however you could use a card up to 512GB, as long as you give up on the second SIM.

The camera is also pretty much the same, except the main sensor now has 48MP resolution. However, the sensor is the same size, meaning post-binning pixels are actually a bit larger – 1.6 µm. The camera also gets to keep the f/1.7 aperture and Night mode mode.

The selfie camera has been toned down to 8MP resolution, but the remaining modules are the same. That is the 8MP ultra wide cam and two 2MP modules. Just like Moto G30 THE Video recording is, predictably, limited to 1080p @ 60 fps.

The connectivity situation is the same as well, down to the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Prices

Moto G10 will retail for €150, while the G30 will be €180 with both hitting the shelves before the end of this month.
