The Last of Us Part I Remake leaked footage tells a lot
The Last of Us Part 1 which originally came out in 2013 for PlayStation 3 has been remade with some tweaks and changes by Naughty Dog for PlayStation 5 players and will be arriving in September this year.
After it was announced at this year’s Summer Game Fest spoiled, that the game will be having a remake it has had its leaks all over the place. This time there are some new screenshots and a clip from the upcoming remake of Naughty Dog’s 2013 super hit game. Ahead of its September 2nd release, the leaks of the remake game tells a lot about what has changed.
The PlayStation 5 remake of The Last Of Us Part I isn’t the first time Naughty Dog and Sony have revisited the PlayStation 3 megahit. As a matter of fact, the PlayStation 3 game got a remastered version in 2014, post its original release for PlayStation 4 as well. In 2014 it received its first remaster in the form of The Last Of Us Remastered for PlayStation 4. This new remake of the survival horror game, according to at least one trailer, has been “rebuilt from the ground up for PlayStation 5,” and apparently has got some gameplay tweaks and graphic improvement to bring it at par with its sequel that came out in 2020.
Thanks to leaks that started popping up on Twitter and YouTube yesterday, we can have some idea as to what graphic improvements gave been made. In a video titled “The Last of Us Part I – Leaked First PS5 Gameplay Clip,” a walkthrough of the PS5 version of the game has been shown, where we can see for ourselves the visual changes that have been apparently made.
Twitter account Naughty Dog Central also shared some screenshots of the remake, with direct comparisons to the original. There may not be much significant changes but we can also not deny there some noticeable improvements and the visual do look sharper.
“Yeah, no, this is OUT OF LINE!! Especially for naughty dog. I am NOT paying 70 bucks on a simple graphic enhancement with NO MULTIPLAYER” read one reply. “Simple graphic enhancement” is certainly a gross oversimplification of the real labor going into this project, but the remake is indeed a refresh of a nine-year-old game without its original multiplayer, and Sony is charging a full 70 bucks for it. There has been pushback from Naughty Dog against describing it as a “cash grab,” but it’s easy to understand folks feeling underwhelmed about the project.
The Last of Us Part I was simply fantastic, which was one of its kind and in some ways even better than its sequel, at least in terms of its storyline. However, did it require a remake after 9 years, that is debatable. Nevertheless, as long the makers are able to retain the essence of the original game, we do not have any problem. Some additional cinematic scenes won’t do any harm though !
